I believe that when the basic concepts of math and science are mastered, the complex concepts become simple. These subjects also need to be taught using real life examples so that students can see the importance of learning them. Finally, I believe the worst thing that an instructor can do is to ask student to use and memorize equation that they don't understand. I will always insure that a student will understand the why and not just the how. Anyone can become a master of math and science if they have the desire and are taught effectively.
As a recent graduate form BYU-Idaho, I have gained a greater appreciation for how important it is to learn the basics of math and science in order to succeed. Teaching is in my blood. Both my parents were teachers. My father was a college professor and my mother was an elementary school teacher. As a PSR working in the school setting I students that were considered by some as untrainable. Often the students believed they were unable to learn or were dumb since they had always been told they were. I was able to work with some of the most difficult. I would make up games and contests to get them to try something. I believe in lots of encouragement and was recently told by one of my former clients, who couldn't read or write in the 7th grade, "I am really going to graduate this year. I knew I could do it because you showed me I can do it." She did too!

I attented Twin Falls Christian Academy throughout my highschool career. During the second semester of my junior year i recieved a credit for helping teach in the daycare facility. I also helped a first grade boy with his spelling and reading assignments due to his lack of understanding the English language. Throughout the rest of the year, I helped a couple more young kids in the same area. I did the same kind of stuff throughout my entire senior year and recieved a credit for teaching the preschool.
I have always loved being around kids. I care about there well being and knowing that im someone they can look up to.
