My comments on tutoring Biology : As a Registered Nurse, I apply these principles daily

Very relaxed and encouraging. I use quite a bit of discussion, and I like to ask students questions that lead them down the path to help them discover the answers they seek. I have found that information is better retained if one can guide the student to the conclusion that they seek, building upon the knowledge that is already there. One of my favorite thing is watching stidents' faces when they have the "Aha!" Moments.

A Little Bit About Me...

I do hands on instruction I try to relate whatever concept I am attempting to teach into a hands on experiment so the student can see, feel or even smell things that will help make things easy for them to remember. With Math and Algebra I try to relate it to the real world and teach them to use their imaginations and visualize things to make the concepts more acceptable to them. Most people who have difficulties and need tutors usually learn better through senses other than their eyes and ears so I try to reach them on that level and teach them develop their own style so they can be their own best teachers.
I taught ABE classes for Saint Charles Community College at NECC from 1998 to 2003. I have earned a BA in Social Science and majored in Political Science and History and minored in Spanish and Religious studies. I love learning and helping others learn. I was introduced to P ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My education background includes an associate’s degree in chemistry, bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in biomedical science. My education has afforded me the opportunity to work in a laboratory setting, conduct research, and write research articles while applying laboratory techniques to a range of science projects. While working toward my degree I worked as a k-12 substitute teacher and a 8th grade science and mathematics tutor.
