A Little Bit About Me...

i have never taught professionaly, but have assisted fellow students. the methods i useed to help them were ither to incorporate the subject matter into a sumject that they had a personal interest in, or manny time i found that they just didnot understand the language of the subject so i reexplained it in simpler terms and they got it just fine.
Even as a student i helped my fellow students to understand and grasp the subjects they were having difficulty with. i can generaly spinn the information into a subject matter that interests the individual or just explain it in an easier to understand manner, offted they just get lolst in the language of teaching. i minnored in math, and majorred in science and agriculture in high school, ansd took veternary technology in colledge this involved mostly biologies and lab technigues.

Teaching young people and seeing them succeed is such a reward. Many students find the conventional school setting difficult and work with greater success in a one on one setting. Getting to know the student and his or her learning style along with some background enables a tutor to create an atmosphere where the student will be most successful. The student can feel comfortable asking questions, which is not always the case in a traditional classroom. My goal as a tutor is to have a student comfortable and successful!

As a certified teacher I taught for 3 years in inner city Phoenix. I worked with diverse cultures needing strong literary support. A self written curriculum designed includes strong phonics, vocabulary, reading and grammar. 2 years experience as a tutor for the AZ Dept. of Ed. for Math and Language Arts for 8-12th . Math courses taught included lectured instruction & centered learning. Hands on experiments are vital to making a visual/ life connection. A Little Bit About Me...

My years of teaching have been greatly varied—traditional/ non-traditional, in the States /overseas, regular/special needs students, children/adults, and with a great variety of nationalities (Swedish, British, Slovak, Serbian, Jordanian, Russian, Dutch, South African, etc.). I have homeschooled our five children. I have provided English conversation classes for children. Also, I founded and directed an English educational resource center for expatriate children, like an international school, but smaller scale and with more individualized instruction. I have always loved teaching. My first job was working at a summer recreation program teaching tennis and swimming lessons. I worked at a 21st Century Learning Center through college helping needy middle schoolers achieve success. I have taught 2 years of kindergarten and 3 years of 4th grade in a rural school in NY. I have been extensively trained in phonics instruction through the Reading First program at my school.
