While attending Claflin University in the pursuit of obtaining duel BA's in the field of journalism and sociology, my off times was spent in the middle schools of Orangeburg, SC for nearly six years. I spent 4-5 hours in the classroom (daily) as an assistant and tutor/mentor in language arts classes grades 6-8. My majoring in sociology allows me to use human behavioral knowledge to reach kids effectively in order to sustain their focus which allows them to embrace the concept of learning. A Little Bit About Me...

As a recent CofC graduate attaining my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology, I have a vast knowledge of Biology and Chemistry courses. I also attained minors in Chemistry and Psychology. In high school I completed Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Biology, English, and Calculus and placed out of 21 college credit hours. With this experience, I gained knowledge about the arrangment and expectations of these classes and examinations. During High School, I tutored Middle School aged children in all subjects in an after-school program. Currently, I work as a Patient Care Technician at the MUSC's Children's Hospital. I enjoy teaching very much. I think a strength trying to use a student's active content or prior knowledge to connect to material. My attempts are always to make the student feel empowered by the education process. If you can connect to way what they are into, either cartoons, hip-hop, popular culture, with conservative humor, then sometimes you can gain their understanding much quicker.
