I enjoy watching students learn and to see them grow in knowledge and their ability to solve various challenges as they mature. i try to set an example for the students to emulate by letting them know I was at their age at one time, and that I needed help along the way as well.
I have taught on the secondary high school level for 36yrs.My various teaching assignments included the following: Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Sports Medicine, Health, Physical Education, CPR & AED Training. I have also coached on the same level the following sports at one time or another: Football, Wrestling, Track, Baseball, Golf, and Softball; as well as being a certified official in wrestling and softball. When I was in my first year of college, I took a personality profile that was intended to tell me what career choices would suit me the best. Each time I took the profile, the results stated that I was best suited to be a Teacher. The secondary career choice was business. I entered college so that I could be a financial professional, and was rather surprised by the results of the profile that I thought would say "financial" as my career choice. I decided to teach driver's education at a local Christian school for two years, and found that my students were actually learning valuable lessons from my experiences, and were retaining what I taught them. There is little that is more gratifying than seeing a lesson you have been trying to teach someone hit home, especially when it has taken a lot of hard work on both the part of the tutor and the student to get to that point. I am a very hard worker and I am determined to succeed in every task I undertake. I believe that students who are willing to work hard enough are capable of excelling in just about anything. My passion in life is to work with children. I love helping children learn and to see the "light bulb" go off in their head. I am a graduate of West Virginia State University, with a BA in psychology. I graduated magna kum laude. I tutored last when I was in High School, but worked with children for two years at Highland Hospital. I am an avid reader and would love to teach others to enjoy it.
I enjoy working with children because they have such a capacity to learn and I love seeing the joy when they learn somthing new. I believe in taking your time and being thorough.
