As an undergraduate student at both my junior college and university, I was inspired to spread the joy of learning and understanding English. I have earned a BA in Global Studies and Maritime Affairs, which has enabled me to expand my knowledge base about international affairs and the maritime industry. This coming March I will graduate with a MS degree in Emergency Management. This degree has given me a fantastic background in understanding leadership and management techniques. During the past four to five years I have been employed as an English tutor by both the College of the Redwoods and the California Maritime Academy.

My educational and employment background are saturated in the area of marine and conservation biology. I am trained in micro, chemical and cellular biology. I've was a univ. lab tech. and helped students understand proper lab procedure and successfully complete of lab exercises. I have taught field methodology and stats analysis to UW students. I’ve trained volunteers of all ages and backgrounds in biological studies and proper equipment etiquette. With the combination of my education and my work experience, I have developed a strong understanding languages and communication. I have received two Bachelor's degrees: a BA in English and a BA in German. I have also spent time overseas, teaching English as a second language, and experience which has helped me develop the skills to commmunicate not only the "rules" of the language (proper usage, grammar, etc.) but also to help my students develop the abilities to determine on their own how it should be used.
