Educated professional - Alternative tutor

I worked in after school progrmas all through college and generally enjoy helping children study. I am very engaging, patient and relate well to any age child or young adult. I am not a proto-typical, traditional "tutor" in that I never studied education in a pedagogical sense, but I am highly educated and always made high grades in every level of school. I may can help where the traditonal teachers/tutors have been unsuccessful. I have no specialized training related to ADD/ADHD other than I have been diagnosed as such since high school. I learned to thrive in light of it and feel like I have insight into those with the same diagnosis.

ACT is one of my top subjects! less tricky, more advanced, more memorization!

I have been tutoring for the ACT and SAT for three years after having scored very well on my GRE and getting trained by an elite Test Prep company in Southern California. Currently I'm a professor of theology, ethics and philosophy at Incarnate Word University in San Antonio, TX. I've continued to tutor because I find the work both meaningful and impactful.
I do only what is necessary -- nothing less or more -- to help you succeed. Most students learn best by being guided rather than taught. The strategy for success on standardized tests is fairly general, but every student has particular strengths and weaknesses that must be factored into the preparation process. Hence, I take a very individually customized approach.

Each larger question can subsequently be broken down into a set of smaller questions. These smaller questions are the building blocks of knowledge a student will acquire in classes and it is the ability to put them all together in a coherent manner that allows them to solve the problems at hand. I am a firm believer in asking leading questions of students that may not directly pertain to the question being asked on an assignment, but will get them thinking in the correct manner such that the real question will be easy.
