My comments on tutoring Russian : I have been teaching Russian and ESL (English as a Second Language) for over 10 years. A language lesson include a variety of activities that combine different types of language input and output. To become engaged learners, students need to understand that learning a language is not the same as learning about a language. Students need to understand that learning a language means becoming able to use it to comprehend, communicate, and think – as they do in their first language. I Keep the overall focus on communication, not error correction. I Teach students that mistakes are learning opportunities. When their errors interfere with their ability to communicate, they must develop strategies for handling the misunderstanding that results. I maintain the attitude that mistakes are a natural part of learning, I create a supportive environment where students are willing to try to use the language. When teaching students I use visual support like videos very often. Activities allow students to apply the knowledge they have gained with the instructor to situations outside. Activities include out-of-class observation assignments, in which I ask students to find examples of something or to use a strategy and then report back. I help students with homework if they had no time to do that at home. Students will never feel like they are alone in this journey of learning. - I am 100% fluent in Russian (since birth) - I am professional with a great track record - I am actively tutoring others - I am able to help a wide variety of people (casual learning, business learning, etc.)

Studying for my MA, I held a TA and found that I had a talent for connecting with students. Although I pursued a business career, specializing in electronic payments, I tutored Math on a part-time basis because I found it rewarding especially when students who told me they "hated math" liked doing math with me and subsequently scored well on their tests. In the last 3 years I had 2 students that achieved perfect 800s on their math.
Showing substitution techniques when the student has to deal with abstract letters and symbols has been very effective.
