I began my musical journey learning the value of playing by ear from my father, a very skillful jazz trumpet player. I played in the local jazz workshop with accomplished musicians while in high school and was awarded a scholarship to the Jamey Aebersold Jazz clinic in Indiana.
Also, I attended a Christian University where I was selected to play in a band that was on a televised show nationally for three years.
After earning a music degree(BME),as well as the the Pressor Scholar award, I taught at an inner-city music school for five years and gave private lessons before and after school. I have a passion for teaching children as well as adults how to use music as a tool for expression.
