I am a double major from Kenyon College with a B.A. in Modern Languages (Russian & German) and International Studies. I also spent time studying abroad and improving my language skills in Russia, Germany, and Finland. While in Russia I worked as an English tutor and as an assistant teacher at St. Petersburg State University. At Kenyon I worked three semesters as an apprentice teacher for Russian and one semester for German. I was a college tutor for both languages. I was active as the co-president of both German and Russian clubs and am the recipient of the college’s German prize. As a result of this involvement, teaching experience, and time abroad, I have gained skills in teaching and tutoring Russian, German, and English. In January of 2009, I moved back to the United States after living in Dusseldorf, Germany for four years. While living there, I continued my vocal studies and perfected my teaching style. Holding a BA in music, I am a vocal and beginner piano instructor. I also have three years experience with teaching English as a second language at two different language schools, one for adults, the other geared toward children. I enjoy the German language very much and love explaining how it works to students. Though students learn in different ways, practicing both written and conversational German is imperative to be successful in mastering the language. As a student of German at Bellarmine University, I was able to learn the German language through immersion experiences in Austria and Germany. I also studied German grammar and literature in depth through classes at Bellarmine.
