I tutored English composition in the writing lab as work-study for St. Petersburg Junior College to assist financial aid for my Associates degree. I also tutored disabled students at the University of South Florida in writing skills. I held a composition writing component to the Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Program at the Training School Boys. I taught ESL for the Cape Verdean Community Development Center in Pawtucket. I also taught GED classes at the Woodlawn Community Center in Pawtucket.
I have recently learned to incorporate meaning-centered philosophy (Viktor Frankl) to my teaching with a Portfolio methodology. These experiences have allowed me to discover many techniques to keep students engaged and prevent them from becoming frustrated. I'm sure I can work successfully with your son or daughter. I have a strong background in math and science (Ph.D. from MIT) and excellent English and organizational skills.
