I often use word games or riddles as rewards for good work. It motivates effort from my students and makes them listen more closely. With my esl students, I made sure to apply new words to their life in order to gain the most retention of the new vocabulary words. The approach I use of ask students to draw from their own lives in order to illustrate meaning and comprehension encourages a dailogue that works well with any vocabulary words for any age group.

Since high school I have been aware that I wanted to teach. I am currently pursueing a Masters of Education, and finishing one of my specializations, (French). I have taught for several businesses. I also taught for the Worthington Public School system as a volunteer and teaching asssistant.
I try to devote the day to getting kids interested in learning while covering the topics necessary. I believe listening to the kids is the first thing you have to do. Building a relationship is key to getting through to them and earning their respect. Then, you can accomplish any goals before you with a team attitude and approach. Although I do not have any formal classroom teaching experience, I have trained numerous adults in the corporate environment on processes and procedures.
