Experienced, licensed and fun first grade teaacher!!

I originally started out in Kindergarten which I taught for 3 years, then I student taught in 2nd grade and 3rd grade, taught 3rd grade for a year and now I have been happily teaching first grade for my second year. I graduate May 2009 from Simmons College with a BS in Biochemistry. My courses taken during my undergraduate career were heavily focused in the sciences. I’ve taken upper level chemistry, physics, biology, and math courses. I tutored a student in zoology for a brief period of time. I was also a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry I and II labs. The temptation as instructor is to simply restructure the way in which a student learns in order to fit your view, and those I have helped encourage such behavior. Guidance, suggestions, and allusions as to how a student can improve and understand is a better alternative. Simply doing the work for the student has little value in regards to education. A fine balance must be struck between open ended comments of little use and high jacking creativity through re-working large portions of work. My policy is to make the student aware of their shortcomings, explain my reasoning, and use enigmatic reserve in telling them how to correct errors.
