I believe that everyone learns in a different way so I approach teaching with a very adaptable style that adjusts to the person or people I am teaching. Graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead with a degree in accounting, and a strong background of math and businesses courses has given me an excellent background in math. My approach to teaching science is to begin by applying the basic principles of biology and chemistry to everyday life. I believe it’s easier to understand these subjects when they are related to human health and current events. I also try to create an environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and open discussions are encouraged. Lastly, I am conscious not to overwhelm students with details and frequently pause to ask the student how the session is going if I feel he/she is not engaged.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that people learn in different fashions. For example, I feel that some concepts may be better explained with tangible objects while other concepts are learned better when questioned and discussed. By exploring the different ways of learning we can find what works best for that individual and use that method as a tool for their understanding. I feel, in the past, that many of the peers I tutored not only obtained/recollected more information, but were more comfortable in a quiet, relaxed environment.
