Students often find that they can comprehend and retain material better when they are engaged in the learning process. Just like learning how to ride a bicycle or play a musical instrument or sport, self-feedback is an important part of the process. This is also true with mathematics and science. Rather than lecture or force rote memorization, I prefer to use a question and answer style that helps guide the student through the concepts being studied.
