I am what you might call a camp kid. I grew up spending summers in the mountains, camping and hiking and when I grew older, working. The foundation of my leadership experience was built in the forrest. For six summers I worked as an outdoor educator and adventure guide, leading groups of students through week long trips into the natural world. I believe in experience as the greatest teacher. I have tutored for a non-profit organization, Life Christian Church, as an after school program on Wednesdays free to the community. I have also taught English and History to home school students. One of the biggest accomplishments was watching of the students who detested writing papers because he did not believe he could do it, grow into a man who is not writing weekly papers confidently. His father told me once, his is writing papers better than he ever would have at that age. I have also taught youth ministry for over 10 years. Literature is one of my top subjects!

This is my first time tutoring professionally. However, it is not the first time I help others to learn. Even though I am only a college student (an English major, soon to be studying creative writing as a minor field), I have often volunteered at an elementary school in San Diego, where I worked with younger children. My tasks included administering tests, helping them with their work, and teaching proper study habits. Hopefully, I can take this little bit of experience and help any other students that need it.
