I have competed in USCF chess tournaments since the age of 8. USCF Rating ~1900. I teach using active learning whereby students will learn how to think critically. Chess theory, openings, strategies, etc. will all be covered. Lessons will be tailored to the skill of the student. I have been playing club and tournament chess since the age of 8. I stopped playing at the age of 14 and have started playing again for ~6 months. I have won multiple National and State titles. I have competed in the World Open. I learned chess from a grandmaster. I have tutored/mentored many young students in chess. Many of my students have gone on to be very successful in tournament play. I am a 3rd year medical student who is dedicated to learning and teaching.

I enjoy teaching kids and particular the satisfaction that the kid gets when they finally understand the subject. I believe I must make myself fit to the students needs and not the student to my way of teaching, because there are many ways to have a kid understand the subject. Education is the tool that will open the doors of opportunity and will enhance your individual worth. I worked as substitute teacher for the Denver Public Schools during my senior year of university. I have also worked and certified as instructor in the US Army in several fields to include math and science.

No two people are alike, so my teaching style is to find out what a person's style of understanding is, and to frame my teaching around that. Some people need to hear it out loud, some need to write, some need a picture. In whichever case, I consider the material to be learned once the student can explain it back to me. I worked as a research assistant at Arizona State University until I graduated with my Bachelor's Degrees in psychology. This allowed me a great deal of hands on experience in applying mathematical and scientific principles in gathering data and doing statistical regressions. I have also worked as tutor independently for about the last 5 years, primarily in math and science for high school and college student. i have also helped with test prep for sat and ASVAB.
