I have worked in schools in Kentucky and Ohio. I have been a tutor, intervention aide, long term substitute teacher, and regular classroom teacher. I communicate freely with my students, and am always ranked among the most well-liked and effective instructors by my students. I enjoy working with all age groups. When working with older students I typically use a teaching style that involves asking the student a series of questions such that the student ends up answering their own question through deductive reasoning. I have found that a student utilizing this pedagogical method not only tends to more effectively remember the answers to the questions but understands the thought process that allowed them to arrive at those answers. I have also found that students are better able to pay attention for longer amounts of time with this active learning style as opposed to simply listening to a lecturer.
