I am a very hands on and visual teacher that believes the best way to learn is by seeing and doing things yourself. In order to provide the best teaching expereince I would teach through multiple examples and putting difficult subject matter into a context the student can understand and visualize. I believe in working with each student to develop a system that works best for the individual, which will give them the tool to learn more easily in the future.
While obtaining my Master's degree I had the chance to study many different subjects as well as tutor student from Kindergarten to undergraduates in many areas of study. After graduating from college, I taught preschool for 2 years. Since that time, I have worked with children with special needs in a variety of capacities. I currently work in the school system where I have been employed as an Instructional Aide for 7 years. I am currently working towards my masters degree in Exceptional Student Education.
I have taught children with a variety of exceptionalities which include learning disabilities, autism, and mental retardation. I was employed by the Interior Design department at FSU to teach undergraduate courses, being an instructor of record for the inital course for the department, Design Fundamentals. I have a passion for teaching and learning- it runs in the family as my husband is a middle school science and math teacher. Our parents are lifelong edcuators in Wakulla County. Now that I have earned my Master's degree I would like to continue that family tradition.
