Teaching is a means to find a student's misconceptions and correct them. I try to do this by engaging the students in conversation, asking them leading questions, or watching them work. I try to build classroom bonds, making communication easier. Once the students feel comfortable, it is easier to get them to talk and share their actual thoughts and ideas (which might be brilliant or flawed).
After graduating with a 4.0 from the University of Oklahoma, I began my graduate work in mathematics. As a G.A., I had the experience of teaching and tutoring at the college level. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I began my teaching career in mathematics at the junior high school level. I taught Algebra I to eighth graders. While teaching, I returned to school and received my M.Ed as a Reading Specialist. After working in that area for a few years, I became an inner city high school principal. I remained in that capacity for approximately twenty years. I was searching for a new challenge and joined the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to administer an AmeriCorp grant called Smart Start for Brain Gain 2010. In that capacity I worked with colleges and public schools throughout Oklahoma to develop tutoring and mentoring programs in reading and mathematics. Teaching has been something I have done a great deal of my life no matter what path I was on. When I was in nursing school, patient teaching was a strong point of mine. I love children. Due to my changing Majors as a junior, I received a Bachelors Degree with a double major, Biology and Education. My Minor was in English. I was pleasantly surprised when my Certificate in Oklahoma qualified me to teach seventeen fields. I have had the privilege of teaching nearly every discipline at the grade levels of seventh thru twelfth. In addition the District selected me to train to work with at risk students. One of my many assignments was in school suspension that required tutoring those students in the completion of their studies.
