Hands on, Practice based, through step by step instruction. Visual learning whenever applicable. Geometry, algebra, physics, and some calculus are in my range of teaching. As a recent graduate of a private liberal arts institution with a degree in Medieval and Early Modern Studies and a concentration in pre-medical courses, I have a diverse and extensive understanding in several areas of study, both in the humanities and the sciences. I have experience teaching many types of students. I worked one-on-one, daily, with an autistic student during my last position, so I understand that not every student learns in the same way. I think it works well to give shorter lessons to a small group, and then work individually with the students. I like to encourage them to help one another if they feel confident in the subject. I pay great attention to verifying that each student is following the lesson. My main teaching style is "I do, you do," meaning I show them how to do a problem, or spell a word, and then they show me how. I like to work with the parent and child on any goals they have for the year, while updating the parent and child on progress, problems, and behavior. I hold a degree in Political Science, but I concentrated in international relations with a fascination for other cultures and languages. Having lived in both England and France, I have been forced to adapt to new ways of thinking, speaking, writing and eventually teaching, where I was thrown in a classroom of French students for which I became a role model of American culture. It was during this time that I decided to work towards becoming a teacher. Further,I am a university speech champion and have written many essays over the course of my studies.
