I have lived many years abroad and I have been teaching languages for over six years. In Brazil I mainly taught Brazilians English but I have also worked with teaching Spanish and Portuguese. My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I have worked with more than 1 Korean student in my second semester of my first year of college, who were learning English as a second language. They do much better now than when they started out.

I have not tutored as an actual job ever, though I have done many other things that would be considered tutoring. I help my 12 year old nephew with his homework and have done so for about a year. I taught Sunday School at church for two years. My friends and other students have always come to me for help with essays and other English related assignments. Whether it be general proofreading, paragraph writing, paragraph flow, etc, that is the type of help I gave. I also have several Korean friends at college who are learning English as their second language, and one Finnish friend who learned English as her fifth language. I explain the basics to them, and help them learn English. I've learned that I do well in this field, and would like to continue with a paying job.

My teaching style is extremely fluid. I've found that adapting classes to the unique needs and interests of each individual student is the best way to making a lasting impact on their educational growth.
A lifelong lover of reading, writing, and language in general, I supported myself through college by tutoring other students in Spanish and helping them edit/write their papers. Since then, I have tutored students between grades 6 and 12 in English related subjects, including spelling, vocabulary, and general writing. Teaching is a dream job since you get to directly see the results of your work. You can watch your students improve in front of your eyes and this is a result of your motivational skills. The students do the work but you are the one who reaches their inner core to pull out their ability to achieve. For each student you must find what motivates them and press those buttons. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that all students can learn in different ways. As a teacher, it is my job to reach my students at the level where they currently are. It is also mu job to reach students in a way that is the most effective for that particular student. For example, some students learn more effectively verbally, while others are visual leathers.
