one on one is the best for me, i dig deep in the material and make sure the student knows everything they need to know. I know what it's like to be lost, and i want to prevent that from ever happening to anyone as much as i can help it.
I had Algebra 1 my 7th grade year, geometry my 8th, algebra 2 9th, statistics 10th, trig 11th, and calculus 12th. I'm in the mechanical engineering program in TCC and currently in calculus 2. 1994-2000 Wagoner Middle School Subjects taught: 8th grade math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 2002-2010 Coweta High School Subjects taught: Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus 2010-present: Tulsa Technology Center Math Specialist I have also taught ACT prep workshops as well as math related to construction trades. I was selected as Teacher of the Year at Coweta High School in 2005 and served as the math department chair.

A Little Bit About Me...

While in high school, I discovered my love for math and began tutoring classmates in that area. My interest in writing developed during my educational career at The University of Tulsa, where I had courses in advanced exposition and argumentation and writing for the professions along with literature classes in the areas of Russian and British Literature of the 18th Century, Eastern Literature, and Greek Literature. I also took courses in Spanish, including a composition course. A Little Bit About Me...

I am very adaptive to students learning style. I usually spend the first ten minutes of our first meeting figuring out what the student is struggling with and how to best meet their needs. I try to teach students more how to think analytical more so then just solving problems because it is more beneficial to the student. I feel that if I can teach the student how to read theorems, understand concepts, then problems just become easy at that point.
I started tutoring part time in 2004 and have continued this throughout college. I worked as a math tutor for tulsa community college part time during the summer. I have earned over 190 hours of college credit, I have two degrees, and I am only 15 hours away from a chemical engineering degree.

Every student has a unique combination of learning styles, but he or she also has a predominant one such as visual learner, kinesthetic learner, etc. I try to figure out which style or styles the student responds to and use those styles to get through to the student. I also have the student explain the problem to me. Usually there is only one area where the student has gone astray in his or her thinking. By explaining the problem to me, I can see what he is and is not “getting.” Then we can concentrate only on what the student does not know.
