I studied high school math at my own rate as suggested by a math teacher. Math was cool. Found my mothers high school algebra book and worked all problems cover to cover. During my BS, made top of the class in many of my math classes. Before returning to graduate school worked 7000+ problems to improve myself. Utah State University Math/Stat Graduate PhD Researcher of the Year 2009 with GPA 4.0 in MS and PhD. My tutoring experience began while a student at BYU with Mark D. from ages 8-10. At 10 he scored at high school level in math. Did many guest lectures at USU. In 2010 tutored my son at Weber State University. The Algebra 1 grade went from fail to B. I believe that children are born smart. Some of them have special learning challenges and some have been taught to believe that they are not smart. By treating children as though they are intelligent and providing encouragement and learning opportunities, I have seen children grow and progress in almost astonishing ways. After finishing my Masters Degree in Education I taught one year in a private school then opened my own business tutoring primarily homeschool students during the school year.
