I would like to think that I am exciting and fun. I know what it's like to want to impress your teachers esspecially when it comes to music so I don't like to put to much pressure on my pupils. I want them to be able to learn at there pwn pace but also know that I'm here for a reason and that I expect an equal amount of effort from them as well. I did my associate degree studies in Classical performance. When I completed my undergraduate B.A. I had more of a focus study on Jazz composition. I was a high school vocal music director 7-12 for one year right after I graduated in 2007 to 2008. I have since then been teaching a wide variety of music classes in everything from elementary to upper level theory and aural skills. Having received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Cornell University and the University of California in the area of physical science (Atmospheric Science), I have attained a high level of knowledge in multiple areas ranging from Math and Science (particularly Physics) as well as Chemistry and Biology. In addition, while at Cornell University I earned a Minor in Communications focusing on both Written and Oral Communication. Regarding my abilities as a tutor, at Cornell I was employed as a Teaching Assistant for two upper level courses in the area of physical science. Lastly, as a local graduate of Queensbury High, I have first hand experience with New York State Regents exams. I very much enjoy teaching both children and young adults. Last May I graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in history. My passion for history has been driven by my voracious appetite for knowledge. Writing, reading, and critical thinking are of the utmost importance to me. Education is not only a means of acquiring future jobs but of a creating a nation of critical thinkers. Growing up I dealt with dyslexia. I understand that each and every kid has a different learning style and not one style is better then the rest. My goal is to make learning as much fun as possible by pin-pointing the learning style of the student and finding ways to make learning more interesting. My most important goal is to teach children that everyone has the skills to excel and that learning can be fun. More importantly, I want children to understand that though their learning style may be different from his/her classmates it does not make them any less smart.
