How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. I have been a CEO, Vice President, Consultant, Senior Broker, Artist, Photographer, Glass Blower, Jewelry Designer and writer, the job titles have changed over the years; the only consistent has been that teaching has always been a part of my working life.

A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching relies heavily on the use of modeling. Modeling is a powerful tool in the development of not only writing and language skills, but also in exposing my students to a framework which will allow them to hone their own thought processes and work habits. Incorporating a wide variety of vocabulary-building activities into daily lessons strengthens my students' understanding of the subject area and provides a familiarity with language that will aid them in the ability to express themselves in a much more effective manner.

I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I have also worked as a 1:1 instructional assistant with a high needs student. Currently I worked in a behavior school as an instructional assistant, and I have stepped in to plan curriculum and teach all the classes because the teacher has been on paid leave this year. I also have been commuting to college in Castleton State College from Springfield after work to complete my degree in education. Create/Implement lesson plans/student lEP's per state mandates SYETP(Summer Youth Employment Training Program)taught job readiness skills I worked as a Teaching Assistant with Intense Management needs program. Due to the student enrollment we actually had 1 certified teacher with 2 Teaching Assistants and one Teacher Aide. For the last 8 yrs while employed within the education field, I worked in this position.I was considered the teacher for 6-12 of the special needs students with both behavior and learning Disabilities.
