I really enjoy helping children and teenagers discover new things through education. I am the oldest of five children and I have helped my siblings in practically every subject area over the last 10 years. I am a very patient because I know that everyone has different learning styles. Once a child's learning method is identified, he or she will really start to meet their potential.
I graduated in 2007 from the University of Arkanas with a degree in Political Science. Currently I am a legislative analyst for the state of Arkansas and work daily with legislators to pass legislation. After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in English, I married and worked at support jobs while helping to raise our two children. Upon finding myself a single parent, I decided to return to school and pursue my passion for learning and working with children by obtaining my Masters in Special Education. I have since had the opportunity to work with general education students while teaching Middle School English.. I believe that patience is the most important virtue when teaching a child new material. I have a nephew who is ADHD and I have helped him with many school projects and other homework. He requires a lot of attention and a lot of patience. So I am aware that all children are different and have a different way of learning. I earned my B.A. in English Literature from the University of Arkansas in 2004. While enrolled in Spanish classes, I volunteered with the Amigos Program. I was assigned to students whose parents spoke little or no English and were unable to help with homework. I helped students practice for spelling tests and improve their reading skills. In my work as a recruiter, I saw poorly written resumes and implemented a program to teach basic spelling and grammar skills. I believe we all learn in different ways, and I am always open minded in finding the best way for that student I am working with at that time. I believe everyone can achieve the highest of goals if we all strive for that success and find out a way to get there. However, most of all I hope I can leave a feeling of respect for the studies and for the people around us.
I have earned a BS in Chemistry and a minor in Math. I am currently working as a chemist, so I have kept up with all the new studies that are taking place right now.
