Teaching and tutoring have been my life's work. Though the majority of my experience is at the college level, I love working with students of all ages. All children have the ability to learn; some need more help than others finding that one pedagogical method that really makes everything "click" for them. Life and destiny urged me to earn a teacher's certification in Texas, where I later worked as an ESL 4th-5th grade teacher in the Waco (Texas) Independent School District for three years. A move to Kentucky to be closer to my aging mother resulted in six years of working as the Adair County School District's Gifted and Talented Coordinator and ESL/ELL Coordinator. My goal in teaching is to provide the student with the tools to discover and learn new concepts and to apply this knowledge to the learning process. I love to help children learn all that they possibly can because I feel that a quality education is the great equalizer. I am easy-going, task-oriented, and very passionate about helping those who may be having trouble in learning something.

A Little Bit About Me...

Though I have not had any experience teaching in any school system in the United States, when I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ukraine I taught both American history and American literature to high school aged students. I have a B.A. in history from the University of Arkansas and have had a great deal of experience working with youths as well. Currently I am in the Master's degree program at the University of Arkansas and have had experiences in researching, writing, and presenting my papers at conference. I will be graduating next semester and am currently applying to PhD. programs.
