A Little Bit About Me...

Experience consist of 5 years as a Para Educator. I have been teaching high school level subjects to young adults with many different levels of mental and physical disabilities. I am also state certified for the position and have been certified in CPR and First Aid. During these five years I have tutored students in mathematics, science, English, arts, history and various life skills.
I enjoy working with children and being able to help them grow into well rounded adults. I am very patient and understanding. I realize that each child is special and all children are capable of learning. Each child learns in their own way and teaching not only takes patience, but it also takes creativity. I enjoy a very interactive learning approach. I tend to use hands on and visual learning techniques. I am patient and children are my joy to work with. During the attainment of my undergraduate degree, I conducted research under my professor, Dr. Greg Powell. Throughout the research, I gathered many skills one being creative in learning, as well as, presenting new material and teaching it to fellow peers and professors. I tutored all subjects - especially in Math all through High School. I also tutored in college. I have strong skills in Math - all levels - but I especially enjoy algebra. I have two children and I basically taught my oldest son math, since he was a different kind of learner than the way they teach at school. He is a very kinesthetic type learner and needs to see, feel and touch to understand the concepts - so I used a lot of tools to help him. I can tutor math and science exceptionally well and other subjects for the younger levels.
I enjoy teaching when there is a bit of a challenge getting the student to understand the concept. As I have mentioned, I can use different styles to help the student get the concept. I have a great deal of patience and believe that everyone can learn. I enjoy the way someone looks after they have understood and mastered an idea.
