I am a retired teacher with 36 years of experience. I have taught from the 6th grade through community college. I also have a combined 49 seasons of coaching experience in football and basketball.I have written curriculum for high school and college classes. My teaching experience began with my work with troubled youth in Michigan. I worked with the Fine Arts Team using the arts to teach visually. I also used positive Peer Culture for helping students to deal with their problems. I slso taught history at the school. I have 8 years experience; I worked for WSI teacher staffing for 3 yrs. and 5 yrs. for the Battle Creek School System in grades K-12 in most subjects I create a positive atmosphere and help students to be responsible first to themselves and then to their community. I also try to make my students aware of their potiential and guide them in processing information by first understanding the context in which it is used. Then I like to use visuals in my teaching style. I prefer to start with testing of some kind to assess the developmental level of the student.

After that I spent several years in a FT professional touring performance ensemble that performed for all ages in a variety of settings across the Midwest. I have a year of experience working with at-risk students as a high school reading intervention teacher in an urban school. At the beginning of the year, my students were reading at anywhere from a first grade to an eighth grade reading level. By the end of the year, some students had increased their reading by up to three grade levels.
