I began as an education major at the University of Central Oklahoma before switching to Oklahoma Baptist University. I have worked with children in a professional setting since 2004 in church, non profit, daycare, early childhood, and preschool settings. I value education and find it to be a crucial and vital part of child development. I have tutored autistic students, as well as taught preschool for 14 months both at Saint Dunstans Preschool and Holland Hall College Preparatory School.
I believe teaching is about learning instead of the outcome. I practice "learning by doing" where they create their own style and way of accomplishing the task based on age appropriate methods and ways that work for them. It is not about the final product, but rather how they get to the proposed finish. Kids will go as far as you push them and typically exceed ones expectations.

I have always loved children, and have never wanted to be anything other than a teacher. I taught a total of 30 years, with 23 of those years being in public school. The other 7 were spent operating and teaching in a private school. I have a fine arts degree as well as being certified to teach K-8. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a classroom teacher for 9 years. All 10 of my years out of school have been in the education field. My first year out of college I taught at an unaccredited private school, and then at an accredited day care center. The next 7 years were at a public school. One year I was recruiting for scholarships at the college level. I have always opened my door to students without expectations of payment for several years. I feel that it is my duty to make sure they understand their assignments.
My passion is working with children of all ages. I believe all children can learn and it depends on how you approach their learning.
