When tutoring a student, I like to start with giving the student a few problems to see where their competency level lies. From there, I proceed like a teacher in a classroom would. I explain a problem while I am solving it step by step on a piece of paper. This allows the student to learn two separate ways-visually and orally. Once an idea is grasped, I like to give the student a couple of similar problems to solve on their own. A Little Bit About Me...

I have formally tutored with Madison College on two occasions lasting a year. I was also Tutoring throughout my time at Edgewood on a drop in basis with any students that came to the math department and could not reach a professor. I have a BS in Mathematics and doing math at all levels is fun for me.
I enjoy helping students work through tough problems by allowing them to make mistakes and then rework the problem a couple of times the correct way. Since this is my area of expertise, I am able to come up with examples on the fly that will target the areas most troublesome to the student. Mathematics is a field that requires repetition but making that repetition as interesting as possible is a fun challenge. My teaching style is different for each student. I have never considered myself a student that things come easy to. I always had to find a way to relate to the material, and when I tutor that is exactly what I try to achieve with each student.
