I encourage students to write down their concerns and mark the areas of confusion at the time these arise. That way the students don't forget to bring them to my attention. I entered college in my late twenties and have been involved in some aspect of learning ever since. I was able to complete my BA in Psychology and Religion as Cum Laude and my MA in Counseling Psychology with a similar GPA. Since graduating I have had the opportunity to work with children and adolescents in a counseling capacity which often mirrors mentoring, teaching and leading. My teaching style is one in which I find ways to relate content to the students' everyday lives. I like to balance textbook knowledge with practical applications and cultural relevance. I also am a firm believer in planning lessons that require higher order thinking skills yet do not become overwhelming.
