For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. I have earned a bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Education Management. I have three years of experience in tutoring children in various subjects: Math, Reading, history, spelling, writing, science, etc. I enjoy tutoring and have fun teaching the students new skills in order to succeed in various subjects.
