I received my BS in Mathematics and my MS in Industrial Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. I also tutored nearly every undergraduate mathematics course offered at NMT, including calculus, vector analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, etc. I also took many Physics courses and have a very solid fundamental understanding of Newtonian mechanics. My style of teaching, especially with tutoring, is to find out what kind of learner my student is: tacit, oral, or verbal. Then the lesson style can be geared to that, while leading the student to become more aware of the other abilities and options. Also, it is imperative that students understand why they are learning what is being presented to them. As a teacher, I try to understand the student's mind in order to present the material in such a way that it will fit together with the student's preexisting knowledge. If a student is passionate about sports or video games, I try and use examples and metaphors from those respective areas within the lessons.
