My comments on tutoring American History : I recently received my B.A in History from SUNY Plattsburgh and I am currently pursuing a M.A in History at CUNY Brooklyn.

In the past I have engaged students with music, film clips and leading questions to put a new perspective on required reading.
As a student of history in both undergraduate and graduate school I have been trained to read actively, think critically, and write creatively. I also have experience working as a Youth Advocate and Direct Service Professional. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic.
