Teaching and coaching students to excel is a gift, and I was blessed with that gift. I believe in teaching students in the manner in which they learn--whether they are visual, auditory, or a combination of both. My teaching-style is rigorous yet kind. My students say that no one has ever criticized their writing and thought so thoroughly and constructively. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about. I received an AAS in 1984 at Alfred State College and was a nominee for Reatial Management Student of the Year. I worked full time and part time while obtaining my BA from Troy State University while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. I have been on the Board of Directors for Girls Inc. for the past 4 years and volunteer my time with them.
