The most important thing to remember when teaching a child new concepts is patience. All children learn skills in different ways. Some catch on quickly, others need more time. Even the way in which you demonstrate how a problem is solved can make a difference. I usually try several methods for solving problems rather than insist that they learn the traditional methods only. The little bit of extra time spent giving them the optional techniques could make a world of difference in their educational success.
As a parent of two school-aged children I have had the oppurtunity to learn about the newest teaching methods employed by teachers at this time. We often work together on math and science. I first became interested in tutoring college. Then I started teaching both chemistry and math at both high school and college levels over the years. I have also been involved in conducting labs for undergraduate students at all level in the department of chemistry. I have worked with research intuitions like the Department of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Education Republic of Liberia.
