I love teaching all children and I am very passionate about science. Teachers must become aware of student’s prior knowledge, as well as how to tap into that knowledge and build on it. Students learn in different ways, and therefore instruction should include a mixture of different activities. I believe that all students are capable of learning and have something to contribute. I have two younger sisters myself, and I am currently coaching the eight year old's softball team. From this experience, I have learned to have patience and creativity when it comes to teaching. I break things down so they become fun and informative. While at Virginia Tech, I dedicated much of my time to volunteering. Here I fell in love with serving others. During this time, one of the programs I volunteered for was an after-school teaching program. Here, I tutored elementary-aged children in english, science, and math. I enjoy helping others learn!

I believe that a student who lacks the basic fundamental skills in reading and mathematics will struggle to stay focused in class and continually be disruptive and ultimately stop attending school. My teaching style is consistently accommodating especially to these types of students. I like to show students that I am there for them and there isn't anything through my patience and sincerity they cannot learn. Over the past five years I have worked as a Teacher/Instructor both the the legal field and in the public school setting with students diagnosed as ED and LD as well as being displaced from the normal public school setting. Even though my academic degrees are in the legal field I have stayed current in areas of Reading and Math from Basic Algebra to Geometry.

I have earned a bachelors in Elementary Education and a Masters Degree in Education Management. I have three years of experience in tutoring children in various subjects: Math, Reading, history, spelling, writing, science, etc. I enjoy tutoring and have fun teaching the students new skills in order to succeed in various subjects.
