A Little Bit About Me...

As a vocational expert/counselor I have taught, trained, and tested (interest, IQ, aptitude etc) both clients and employees. I worked with average intelligence adolescents and adults. I also assisted the special education teacher at Hanover Learning Center (approximately 7 years)working with mild and moderately impaired adolescents in the classroom. In the vocational and job placement responsibilities, I coordinated, and assisted/taught client to help them obtain their GED.
Naturally I would set goals and objectives (Independent Educational Plan). Depending if the individual's assets or deficits (weaknesses) would determine my teaching style. It was determined by the type of approach that would benefit the individual best. Some people are visual versus audtory, or hands on learners.

Many students have difficulty in a classroom setting because the teacher teaches one way, while not all students learn the same way. I believe in getting to know my students during our initial sessions to discover how they learn. Listening and picking up on verbal and body language cues allows me to relate with students. Patience and perseverance are my strong points. If one method doesn’t work, we will try another until we get it right. Your child and I will become a learning team. Parents will also become a part of that team. Our working together is crucial to your child’s success. All students can learn to their potential given the opportunity.
As a healthcare consultant with an associate degree in Management and bachelor degree in Business Administration, I spent much of my time writing, presenting, and educating. My mathematical, grammatical, presentation and writing skills w ... read more

After graduating from college, I worked in a Top Secret position in Washington, D.C. I left that position to pursue teaching, and earned a Masters from Boston University. I taught high school classes for several years, and also worked in IT as a trainer and troubleshooter. I was asked to direct a community college basic skills program, and did so for 7 years, rising to a Dean's level. I have more recently taught and consulted for a private primary school. I have recently moved to Delaware after a long time out West.
I like a jump right in style that is forthright and honest. I have a sense of humor, and will use it teaching, but only sparingly. I believe that the student's desire to learn is the biggest factor in his or her mastering information. I have a lot of experience working with students who have had terrible education experiences, who have not had support at home, w ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Continuing Education Tutoring

General continuing education is similar to adult education, at least in being intended for adult learners, especially those beyond traditional undergraduate college or university age. However, it is not normally considered to include basic instruction such as literacy, English language skills, or programs such as vocational training or GED preparation. Instead, as the term suggests, it is assumed that the student already has an education and is simply continuing it. Continuing your education? Getting a GED? A tutor can help. Select a tutor now.
