I have an unparalleled amount of patience.

My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. In my college career, I found myself teaching people everything from music to proper uses of tense/grammar. It was there that i learned that you really only learn a small fraction of what you need to help you in life in the classroom. The rest must be learned on your own or with some one-on-one counseling. I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. I am a recent graduate with straight A’s from Lewis-Clark State College with a major in Biology. I took many classes in math to receive my degree. I tutored students at the University of Montana enrolled in biology and anatomy courses. The students I tutored had significantly better test scores than their previous ones. At LCSC, I assisted one of my professors for her online chemistry courses. I made keys and graded their homework and added notes to help them for future assignments. I was also enrolled in human dissection. A large portion of the course was teaching the human anatomy students certain body parts. As "stay at home" mom of 6, I have used my two Bachelors' degrees for the education of my own children. I've taught them essential reading and writing skills, study habits, organization skills, science projects, practical application of principles, and a love of learning. My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1. Of all the students in the school who surpassed the required State testing and higher District goals in both reading and math, 75% came from my class, as did the winners of the school's essay contest, spelling bee and geography competition.
