A Little Bit About Me...

I am not a professional teacher, but I played one in newsrooms at several newspapers. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic. My knowledge comes from practical experience and in knowing study approaches in advance of taking standardized test.

More About This Tutor...

As a graduate in Accounting, I was given the tools to be able to teach and comprehend a lot of math skills. I was able to take both Business and Math Courses in college including: Business Management, Calculus, Business Accounting, and Algebra. During the last 4 years I have privately tutored students in math and 98% of them went from being F students to B-A students in both math and business courses.
I love to teach students of all ages. I love the looks on their faces when I help them get something that they never thought they would learn. I am very patient and love to show them a few short cuts on different things that way it makes it easier for them to learn and comprehend. The teachers and tutors of this country are the ones responsible of forming our children and make them ready for the real world and what they can do in it.

I am a 1988 graduate of Saint Francis University. In addition to earning my degree, I have over 20 years experience in the Accounting field. I was also am part time instructor at the Federal Correction Institutution in Frackville, Pa., where I taught inmates accounting courses.

Teaching is an everyday occurence. As well as learning. I take a contemporary approach today. I assess an individual situation and apply my knowledge and experiences to fit those needs. I am calm and patient, yet subtly stern to the learning process. I love seeing the reward of another learning at the level of what I learned.
