My comments on tutoring Drawing : I am able to draw 2D to 3D persons, places, themes, buildings, etc.

I have taught young students in grade school how to do arts and crafts. We have 4 different schools with about 20 kids that a group of us would teach during the summer. I have taught a young girl who had learning disablities to help her learn and play her flute. I have been in the Girl Scouts and being older I taughter alot of younger girls in different camps and groups different arts and crafts.
step by step set a goal for the end and have them learn on their own and I will be there to help with questions

I have experience in sculpting, drawing, and painting. I have had professional lessons for 6 years and love teaching. Some of my favorite artists include Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, John Singer Sargent, Mark Rothko, Edvard Munch, and Kathe Kollwitz. I much more of an abstract artist but can definitely incorporate traditional, academic approaches. I have a heavy background in art history and also love to incorporate styles, movements, and artists from the past to influence the future.

Drawing is one of my top subjects! I have taken many Art classes, drawing being one of the ones that I took many times. I will teach the basics of shapes, shading, lines, and values.

Throughout high school, I had trouble trying to figure out what I wanted to do when I graduated. I took many classes that ranged from Weight Training to Biology. I took many Art classes in which I excelled at. I then took some Computer Technology classes and I loved it. So I figured I would put the two together and took Graphic Design classes. I loved it. I am very competent in using all sorts of Graphic Design programs. I got my first guitar around 8 years ago and just picked it up and learned it. I have been learning ever since. I personally, have taught many people the basics of guitar and gave them the tools to excel in music.

During my education experience at Northern Arizona University, I learned early on that I have a passion for education and for teaching. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree and graduated Summa Cum Laude at the top of my class. Through observing and student teaching experiences I learned techniques for teaching students science, English, math, reading, art and music. I also gained valuable grammatical skills through writing various research papers and essays during my studies.
I absolutely 100% believe that ALL children can learn! I believe that it is the teacher's responsibility to provide a healthy learning environment, one in which the student feels safe, secure, accepted and valued. I believe in self-fulfilling prophecies. If a child is encouraged to learn and knows that they can - they will. I feel very privileged to have had an opportunity to have created these types ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe you can only help the student learn if you are willing to take time to "bend down" to their understanding and help lift them up. As a person that easily empathizes with others, it is natural for me to take time to understand the person who I am tutoring. Through building trust with that person I can naturally help them to understand what they may be missing or not understanding. Through helping the student know that I care about their learning at a personal level I believe that they will learn to trust and the teaching/learning relationship will begin to naturally occur.
As a recent graduate of BYU in Business Management (finance emphasis) I have been able to show excellence in my own school work. I have a major GPA of 3.85 (including many Accounting and Finance classes) as well as receiving a 4.0 while taking the “finance core” classes. Receiving a score of “5” on ... read more

I prefer sitting at the student's elbow, with the assigned work in between us, focusing on it together. I talk about "it" rather than "you" to avoid making the student self-conscious. Writing can always be improved, and each student has areas of strength and weakness. I try to pick one area that needs the most attention, and focus on it. When there is significant improvement, I move on to the next area of weakness. Pointing out all of a student's mistakes and weaknesses at once drains morale, and that is counterproductive. Working on one area at a time keeps the student from being overwhelmed. I like to have the student read out loud to me, so that we can both see what needs improvement. I also point out what was done correctly to boost confidence. Goals are important, as well as establishing a time frame for achieving them.

I believe above all that patience is key in teaching people of all ages. If the teacher's listening and communication skills are focused on the individual(s) being taught, the learner will let the teacher know when they are grasping and/or absorbing new material as well as when they(the student) reach their capacity. I believe that in learning it's important to pace one's self, allow the mind time to digest new material, and in finding areas of learning that spark passion. Although I think periodic breaks are important, I also believe in advancing somewhat quickly(according to the students' abilities) and in using real-time examples and experience to facilitate and solidify learning. I do my best to teach kindly, effectively, and maturely.

I have worked with students of all ages and in all different subject areas. I have recently completed a semester of student teaching in a kindergarten class where I worked with the students on reading and writing skills. I have also worked with older students including an adult with learning disabilities. I have taken and passed seven AP tests: Biology, Calculus, Government, English, Physics, Economics, and Spanish. I can take these subjects and explain them in a comprehensible way by breaking them down to their basic concepts and building from there. I create fun ways of learning that engage students in authentic learning experiences.
My style of teaching is very calm and patient. I try to be a "guide on the side" as I help students create knowledge and realize their own potential.I believe the best way to learn is by creating understanding of conceptual ideas rather than atte ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Mormon/LDS missionary I attended the LDS Mission Training Center and then spent 2 years in the Tokyo area. I studied and spoke Japanese daily. I taught a message in Japanese daily. Also I spoke to congregations in Japanese regularly. Following that time, 2004-2006, I studied at BYU (acclaimed for its language success). Here I have earned 20 credit hours of Japanese with an A- average. I am not fluent but I am very good.
I believe teaching is a noble profession. As a missionary I was a teacher for two years. There was a specified message about Jesus Christ and the incredible potential of mankind. Also, I taught English there weekly to natives (including a class for children only -- I made all curriculum up as we went). Now I work with university professors as a Student Consultant on Teaching (SCOT) for the Center for Teaching & Learning at BYU. Friends may describe ... read more

As an undergraduate student it was important for me to pursue knowledge in an area dedicated to the advancement and/or improvement of people in their daily lives. During school I tutored local youth in a program dedicated to the preparation of advanced education. For the last several years in my current field, I have been responsible for continually educating other healthcare professionals on new and common healthcare practices and systems, aimed at making not only their experience, but the experience of people they service, both insightful and fulfilling.
While I have not had extensive experience with educating children I have worked within an industry dedicated to the continual training in skills in a vast array of areas. In addition, the clientele that I have serviced over the past several years have suffered from various cognitive deficits ranging from organic to traumatic, whi ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Every child is different, and each has his/her own unique style of learning. My goal in teaching is always to find out how each child learns best and to cater my teaching to the specific needs of that child. I also believe that children need to feel successful in order to continue learning. In my teaching, I provide a safe and encouraging atmosphere where a child feels capable and confident enough to take some risks when learning something new. Learning should be enjoyable and challenging, but not frustrating. I am sensitive to the feelings of my students and know when to switch gears when a particular method is not proving to be effective. I have a kind and patient demeanor, and I value each student as a special person with many talents and abilities.

Throughout my undergraduate studies at BYU, I taught and tutored in Spanish for up 24 hours each week. I supervised 5 districts of students, 10 teachers and up to 65 students at one time, while still teaching in the classroom. Additionally, I graded papers for college-level business courses for several years. As part of this experience, I provided feedback on writing, grammar, and content. I have now been a TA for more than 30 college business courses. I have finished all pre-medicine science classes with a science GPA of 3.3.
My teaching style is flexible depending upon the needs of my student(s). Some students have disabilities that make drilling or repetition styles of teaching and tutoring difficult and tiresome, while other thrive on it. Others need hands on learning opportunities and problems to work through on their own. Regardless of the student’s need, I am a tenacious ... read more
