I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I am very easy to get along with, so the student will have no problems with me. Altogether I am a very patient smart person eager to help new students learn; and if you want to have fun while learning, then I am the perfect tutor for you.

When I entered college I was immediately drawn to tutor my peers as needed. I worked with the single mom's program at IVC and also did job coaching for the City of Long Beach Disabled program. Once I graduated from college I had the opportunity to join the Boys & Girls Clubs, specifically designing educational and technology programs. I enjoyed tutoring about 50 youth a day. As a result some parents requested that I run a special off hours program at their middle school to tutor the ADHD kids. Every child in that program raised their grades 60% over the course of the semester. Since that time I have honed the methods I have created to work with the "hard to reach" kids and have had tremendous success.
My teaching style is straight and to the point. My goal is to make the kids understand that the only thing holding them back is themselves. Hard work and a desire to learn will w ... read more

I am a recent graduate of California State University Stanislaus with a degree in Biology. Biology has always been a passion of mine. I am currently attending CSU Stanislaus for graduate school on the path to earning a Masters in Ecology/Sustainability. With all the courses I have taken through my undergraduate degree, my knowledge of biology, chemistry, and physics is very rounded and extensive. I understand the in and outs of proper scientific writing and how crucial it is to understanding all aspects of the sciences. Since I am a current graduate student in the biology field, my accurateness and attention to detail is even more refined.
I understand how important it is have a good teacher when it comes to biology and the sciences. It takes time, patience, and deep understanding of the material to effectively learn it. On my way to earning my Bachelor’s degree and now workin ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience working with children and tutoring high school students on multiple subjects (math and science). I have also tutored in subjects such as economics and how to study effectively. I have taught subjects in small group settings as well. I hold a BS degree in chemical engineering from UC Davis.
My teaching style focuses on the student and his/her struggles. I really try to make the student understand the topic at hand and how to study it effectively. Studying techniques are very important and I introduce those techniques to the student. I really guide the student step-by-step through his/her struggles and to build their confidence. I change their mentality to a positive one. I enjoy working with others and I use all the resources that I can to make the student understand the topic. I usually give extra practice problems and I really challenge the students thin ... read more

I have an informal, friendly style to my tutoring methods. I feel that having a comfortable and friendly environment helps the learning process. I use clear and simple language to explain the material. I also feel it is extremely important to be a good listener, to be fully understanding of the students areas of strengths and weaknesses. In my experience, I have found it helpful to have the students demonstrate what they have learned to determine proficiency.
I recently graduated, with honors and special recognition, from Merced Community College with an AA in Business Administration. I officially worked as a tutor at the college, tutoring upper level math. However, unofficially, I tutored many classmates during my two years at the college, in various subjects. Prior to returning to school, I worked as an Office Technician for the California Department of Corections, Parole ... read more

Currently as a student in merced college, I am pursuing my degree in chemical engineering, which has enable me to take courses heavily in math and science courses. Therefore, I believe I have the experience to teach various math courses such as college algebra and calculus 1; with AP college exam passed in Calculus AB. General chemistry is also my strength as a tutor. I also have foreign languages capability that includes chinese and japanese.
I have always been interested in teaching other people who are struggling to keep up with their school work. After having both tutored and taught in the classroom, I find tutoring to be more enjoyable. Since each student learns in a different way it is much easier to teach them one-on-one than a whole classroom full. I’ve always enjoyed watching their faces light up when they figure out a problem for the first time. I believe that tutoring is a very powerful tool because a lot of students need that extra push to succeed that they can’t get being in a classroom.
As a college student, I enjoyed helping others and began working in the tutoring center at Merced College. After I transferred to CSU Stanislaus, I worked both at the tutoring center and for a state program that placed me in one of the local high schools to work with groups of seniors with low math scores in order to help improve their SAT scores. After graduation, I was hired as a substitute teacher. However, the classroom setting ... read more
