A Little Bit About Me...

My old next door neighbors have two children. One is a boy in elementary and one is a girl in middle school. I tutored the boy in reading and writing. He was able to read his first book on his own after a few weeks with me. I had to tutor the girl in math. she was taking algebra and was having a tough time with it. In two weeks of many meetings, she was able to pass her final exam. No matter what grade I was in, I always enjoyed going down to the ESE room and helping the special kids. I did what ever I could to help.

My comments on tutoring Vocals : I have been a vocal coach since the 1990's and have helped students get ready to star in their HS musicals, do a great job with an audition for a special group, get ready to sing in a recital, sing a solo for a Christmas program, and just get their voices properly trained through popular, religious, movie, musical, jazz standards, folk and country and even Italian arias. I use excellent methods not known to all and have had excellent success at voice training.

I have taught PK- Exceptional student education for 10 years, K-12 music for 15 years, private piano for 25 years, private guitar for 10 years, private voice for 10 years and have also taught regular kindergarten, first grade and 6th grade, I am teaching Spanish now and I am bilingual (reading, writing and speaking). I have lived and taught school in Wisconsin, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Honduras, Guatemala, Bolivia and Florida, in that order. i have also written music curriculums, and curriculum for teaching preschool multihandicapped children, and have been a home visitor for severely multihandicapped infants and preschoolers. A Little Bit About Me...

I love educating children and adults and strongly believe in lifelong learning. Since I have taught at several levels and even in different countries, I use different teaching techniques. My goal is to help the learner to get the best education possible.
I have taught for 20+ years in Germany (mainly Math, English and Reading) and for 4 years in Kansas City, MO. There I taught all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Right now I have got several part time jobs: I work as a sub at a colligiate high school (all subjects), I will teach German at the Edison College in Fort Myers (Continuing Education) and I tutor for a private company doing SES tutoring - Reading and Math. I have ten years of experience as an ESOL teacher. I began my career in Costa Rica in 2001 and upon returning to Sarasota began working for Sarasota County Technical Institute. I then moved to Barcelona, Spain to obtain the Cambridge CELTA certificate from International House and spent the next eight years teaching classes to all ages and levels. I have been a fluent Spanish speaker for over 15 years and although not a a native speaker, I and others consider me to be a fluent speaker and writer of Spanish. I am a translator and intepreter, creative writer and have experience tutoring professionally as well as a volunteer.
