During my senior year of college I was selected to be a Russian apprentice teacher through Kenyon College's Intensive Language Program. I taught students three times per week for approximately an hour each session. I had to go through training for this position, which taught me how to design lessons and utilize teaching tools to help students understand the material. As I am a recent graduate myself, I understand the needs of most students and what it takes to keep them engaged in learning. Since learning is such an individual endeavor, I believe that flexibility is one of the most important ingredients for good teaching. A good teacher (or tutor) is responsive to the student's learning style, and indeed, to the student's mood during any given learning session.
