I have 35 years experience in Bell System Management retiring as Operations Manager of Outstate Georgia. Most of this time was used managing, mentoring and teaching others in day to day operations and in class room settings. My strong suits are English, business letter writing, Political Science, Economics and basic Accounting. My major at UNC Chapel Hill was Economics within an overall degree of Business Administration. In teaching childbirth classes as well as CPR and First Aid classes I have utilized lecture, audio-visuals, written materials, and demonstration/return demonstration methods of teaching. I have found that each individual has his or her own learning style and I like to tailor the class to the individual's style as much as possible. I do believe that some type of return demonstration, whether it be verbal, hands-on, or written, is an effective way to assess the student's mastery of the subject. As a childbirth educator I have developed and taught perinatal classes to adults of all levels of education. Teaching CPR and First Aid classes has given me the opportunity to work with lay and health professionals and tailor the teaching style to meet the needs of the individual student. As a parish nurse I have presented numerous health topics to a variety of church and civic groups.
