I love tutoring and mentoring kids, period. It's spiriturally rewarding to me as an adult to have a part in a child's development. I believe every child is special. There's is no doubt in my mind that if a tutor approach is based on patience, quality time and empathy, he or she will be successful and effective. The latter mentioned characteristics has always been viewed by me as the hallmarks of tutoring. I just recently completed my first semester of teaching University 101 at the University of South Carolina. This course allowed me to find out how much I enjoy teaching. I like to be able to make a personal connection with the students and learn about their learning styles and much more. I feel like each person who is in a teaching capacity has the ability to motivate and help each child in the classroom. I feel as though I am highly qualified and competitive for a teaching position because of my abilities to relate to children of all ages. As a volunteer basketball referee at Northside Baptist Church, Upward basketball program since 1998, I work with children between the ages of 7 and 13. I excelled as a 'teaching' team leader as a student of the Business Management program at the University of Phoenix. I earned my bachelor's degree graduating with a 3.45 GPA. While taking the lead on team-based assignments, I developed a passion for teaching.
