As a teacher, classroom experiences have made me realize all students do not learn the same fashion. Some students are more aggressive and advanced but there are those who are silent and will not speak out about difficulties understanding competencies. I prefer not to embarrass those students but give them the opportunity to learn one-on-one. While some students have a difficult time with teacher/student ratio, I like to give the option of working with another student who may understand the content and can teach another peer. I really enjoy working one on one. When a student masters a skill, it is very rewarding. Every student learns differently and they have a tendency toward either kinetic, hearing or sight. If one method of learning does not work, then I have tried another until something clicks with the student. One needs to find out what pushes their buttons and gets them excited. Especially if they are sruggling and their parents are upset, the whole school experience is not fun. Learning should be fun!!
