I use all methods of second language acquisition in my teaching. Most of the exercises I use to help beginning are communicative methods. It's better to get them speaking and writing and build their confidence than to just use rote memorization or drills. If I think the audio-lingual method will help a more advanced student, I suggest and practice this method with them. If reading in the language with the translation side by side helps, we will practice that. I bear all forms of cognitive learning in mind when tutoring a student. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is based on my belief that my purpose is that the student learn the material. If that means backtracking and presenting the material in a different manner or using more examples then that is what I will do. Especially in math and accounting, the building blocks must be solid in order to advance so I do concentrate on each step being strong.
My parents were both educators and my daughter is a professor, so I can say in all honesty that education has been a most important aspect of my life.
